Grace-full Nail Polish Red Spherical Dress

Red Spherical Dress was released by Australian indie polish maker Grace-full Nail Polish as part of the What a Girl Wants collection at the end of July this year. Though What a Girl Wants was a collaborative effort by creator Teresa and members of the Ella Ann Cosmetics team, this particular polish was composed by Teresa herself. It's named for her husband's mishearing of Prince's Raspberry Beret lyrics... "She wore a red spherical dress, the kind you find in a second hand store." Hilarious! Come to find out this is quite a popularly misheard lyric. Other misinterpretations: "She wore a rad blueberry dress," "She rode a brass merry-go-round," "She was a bag lady in rags," and my personal favorite, "She wore a red furry toupee." *lol!*

Teresa describes Red Spherical Dress as "a pink red linear holo with deeper red micro flakies." It's a brilliant cerise or pinkish ruby shade with what else but a gorgeous glowing raspberry aspect to it. Abundant metallic ruby red microflake shimmers gleam brightly from within the polish as light plays over them, adding to the fundamental dimensionality provided by its holographic properties, which are incredibly responsive and athletic. They nuance the base with shifting shades of lavender, purple, deep pink, red violet and rosy red in indirect light and generate a sparkling fully prismatic linear display in the sun. In low light, the polish takes on a sleek semi-metallic look with a bright pink flash that has an aura of gold to it, adding a touch of glamour to its intensely floral personality.

Application was a pleasure. The consistency of Red Spherical Dress is fluid, light and very smooth with a silky slip over the nail and excellent self leveling properties. Pigmentation is very good with completely opaque coverage in two coats. I added a third simply because I could, and was pleased to see an increased richness to the color. Cleanup is easy and straightforward. Red Spherical Dress dries naturally in very good time to a smooth shiny finish. Topcoat enhances the presence of the flake shimmers and does not diminish the holographic effects in any way.

Such an intense color, I love it! The holographic effects are pronounced enough to give the polish a sort of multichromatic quality in low light, where all kinds of sunset colors glide over its semi-metallic finish. Just stunning!

love,
