Femme Fatale Fields of Treasure

Fields of Treasure was released in March this year by Australian indie polish maker Femme Fatale Cosmetics as part of the After-Light Gala collection. I love the way creator Sophie describes the inspiration behind this collection:
The After-Light Gala Collection is inspired by daydreams of evening masquerades and moonlit carnivals in rolling fields. Strings of lanterns above masked party-goers in velvet and lace finery; the tinkling of voices and clinking glasses, soft music from carousels and glass mazes rolling across the fields as dawn creeps across the sky.
This particular polish is officially characterized as a "pale pistachio green creme with a violet sheen and fine silver holographic glitters." The color is less green and more yellow than I typically think of as pistachio. To me, it's more of a delicate pear color, a creamy, desaturated chartreuse. It's packed with finely-milled particulate shimmers in pale violet that are the very definition of ethereal, overtly rising to the fore along the axis of light in a misty glowing cloud of shimmering lilac, and abundant silver holographic microglitters so tiny as to be all but invisible until the light hits them blanket the nail with a delicate twinkle, adding to the otherworldly magic of the composition.

Application was just about as dreamy as the polish! The consistency of Fields of Treasure is fluid, light and super smooth with a medium viscosity and a luxurious silky slip over the nail that self-levels beautifully. Pigmentation is evenly sheer and required three coats to build to an opacity that I was satisfied with, and even then there's still a tiny degree of translucence to the quality of the coverage that suits the delicate nature of the polish perfectly. Cleanup is largely a matter of chasing down those infinitesimal microglitters, which, loosed by acetone, ensconced themselves joyfully over my nail environs. Fields of Treasure dries naturally in good time to a finely-textured, somewhat flat finish that wants a good topcoat to look its best. Topcoat also emphasizes the presence and effects of the violet shimmers.

Photos show three coats of Fields of Treasure over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

In person, Field of Treasure's lilac shimmer is even more prominent than the photos show, and under incandescent light it develops a fantastic dimensional glow with a pink flash. How Sophie got these delicate colors to work together like this is genius stuff, their interplay is mesmerizing.

I purchased both this and yesterday's Stargazing on Saturn from Girly Bits, who now carries the peel off base coats from Russian polish maker Dance Legend as well. Good news for us North American buyers!

love,
Liz

  1. Wow - I am flipping out over this polish. I don't think I have seen anything like this polish before - have you? You hit it spot-on with that color description of pear! Hahah, I have some pears I have been eating and they are that exact color, except for the reddish blush area. Looking at this polish, I can almost experience the sensation of eating pears! It really is a beautiful polish.

    1. No, I never have -- it is unique! I think it's a fantastic composition, I don't know how Sophie coaxed such a pure violet glow out of the green base but I love it. A beautiful, delicate, ethereal polish!
