ILNP Deja Vu

Deja Vu was released by Nevada-based boutique polish maker I Love Nail Polish (ILNP) as part of the Spring 2016 collection in March. Officially described as a "wisteria violet," this is an exquisite silvery violet linear holographic polish with a sumptuous silky sheen. It is packed with ultrafine holo pigment that is incredibly light responsive, producing a prismatic response in almost any circumstance and creating a creamy shimmering luster over which shifting hues of cloudy lavender, periwinkle and pale azure drape the nail like charmeuse silk. The prismatic flare in direct sun is brilliant and precisely delineated, a sparkling flame-shaped rainbow that surrounds a gleaming, semi-metallic lick of violet-tinted silvery cream and shades to a dusky lavender at the edges of the nail.

Application was a delight. The consistency of Deja Vu is fluid, creamy and dense with a medium viscosity and a plush, buttery glide over the nail. Eminently user-friendly, it is amenable to thin or thicker coats and is easy to manipulate with ILNP's flattened flexible brush. Pigmentation is somewhat sheer on the first coat but applies evenly and builds easily, rendering wearable coverage in two coats and complete opacity with full bottle color in three. Cleanup is easy and straightforward. Deja Vu dries naturally in very good time to a slick, glossy finish. Topcoat does not inhibit the holographic properties of the polish in any way.

Photos show three coats of Deja Vu over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

Somehow, Deja Vu manages to convey a sense of affluence and luxury simultaneously with a rarefied, ethereal aspect. The powerful holographic properties render wonderful variable prismatic patterns at every opportunity, but the polish maintains an understated, sleek presence on the nail.

Nice!

Liz

  1. Just gorgeous! Thanks for including a photo of it in shade. For me, it is sometimes difficult to truly see the underlying color on these type of silvery holos. Great job as usual of applying the polish and cleanup!

    1. Thank you, Lara!

Deja Vu is such a strong holo that you really can't tell much about the base color until you look at it in the shade. You know it's purple, but that's about all. I used to always include a shade/backlit shot in my reviews, but my new camera won't do it the same way without adjusting all the settings. The shade photo here turned out well, but I couldn't tell you why. Lucky pic!
