Octopus Party Nail Lacquer Absinthe-Minded

Absinthe-Minded was released in November 2014 by Connecticut-based indie polish maker Octopus Party Nail Lacquer (OPNL) as one-half of a collaborative pairing of polishes with Bliss Polish called The Sweet Escape Duo. It is a light apple green linear holo with a bewitching translucent milky quality to it that gives this pale color unusual depth. Abundant finely-milled holographic pigment nuances the base with shifting shades of pear, fern, aqua and gold. In direct sun, there's a sparkling holographic flare of aqua and mint edged with a delicate gold corona before shading to olive around the edges, the whole floating over a gleaming underlay of pale golden green.

Application was lovely. The consistency of Absinthe-Minded is fluid, light and super smooth with a medium viscosity and an effortless, creamy slip over the nail. This is a user-friendly formula, amenable to thin or thicker coats, easy to finesse and beautifully self-leveling. Pigmentation is slightly sheer but builds quickly to wearable, opacity in two coats. Cleanup is easy and straightforward. Absinthe-Minded dries naturally in very good time to a smooth shiny finish. Topcoat does not inhibit the holographic properties of this polish in any way.

Photos show two coats of Absinthe-Minded over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

Neither my manicure nor photos do justice to this light green beauty. The color is generally brighter than what you see here. For a better idea of how this looks in person, take a look at Nichole's pics in her review of Absinthe-Minded on Bedlam Beauty.

    1. In person, this one is generally a bit brighter than what you see in my pics, less washed looking with more green to it. A very sweet light green holo!
