Colors by Llarowe Healing Waters

Healing Waters was released at the beginning of the month by Colorado-based indie polish maker Colors by Llarowe as part of The Journey collection. Creator Lee Anne describes this as a "bright blue jelly base with glowing holo flakes and shimmer." The color is a medium-dark but bright and very clean semi-transparent azure swimming with holographic flakes that give it a dimensional, stippled appearance. These magical flakes refract loads of light through the base, generating radiance as well as marvelous prismatic effects, more colorful than my photos show. An analogously-hued bloom in vibrant aquatic hues of azure, ultramarine, and aqua with sea green sparkles travels up and down the nail with the light and adds a sense of watery shimmering depth and dimensionality to the look, especially in the sun.

Application was most agreeable! The consistency of Healing Waters is fluid and light with a thin-to-medium viscosity and a smooth, self-leveling slip over the nail. It's a user-friendly formula that is amenable to thin or thicker coats and is easy to manipulate with CbL's flattened flexible brush. Pigmentation is great for a jelly-based lacquer, with evenly opaque coverage and rich color in two coats. Cleanup is easy. There's a little bit of pigment travel but practically no residual staining, hooray! Healing Waters dries naturally in very good time to a silky smooth, satiny finish. Topcoat enhances the presence and effects of the holographic flakes.

Photos show two coats of Healing Waters over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

  1. I am loving your swatches / photos of this polish so much that I am regretting not getting it! (I placed an order yesterday.) Maybe next time.
I was looking at the descriptions she put on each of the polishes in this collection. It sounds like she has been through some rough times, but is doing much better now. I really don't see how a person can go through loss and depression and still keep such a personal business going. Having work that you love to do is therapeutic and I would think would help.
She sponsored a New Year's get together on the PAA FB group a couple years ago. There were different games with prizes (polish). The best game was everyone posting a meme they made up regarding Llarowe. Some really funny things came out of that one! We all had such a good time. I'm grateful to have been a part of the community that enjoyed such things she did. I do hope she finds peace and contentment in life.

    1. This is a fabulous, exuberant blue!

Llarowe played such a huge, important role in popularizing and facilitating the availability of indie polishes -- it is bittersweet to think of Lee Anne moving on, she's been such a pillar! I am trying not to be too sad about it, knowing that this means new adventures for her. She sets a great example. I wish I'd been able to know her better.
