Contrary Polish Sprout

Sprout was released in March this year by Missouri-based indie polish maker Contrary Polish as part of the Spring It On collection, a series of five cool-toned, muted shades plus a delicate holo topper. This is the green of the collection, officially described as a greyed mint. On me, it's a light cool-toned milky grey-green, almost a pastel. It reminds me of verdigris, muted and soft with an organic feel.

Application was great! The consistency of Sprout is fluid, light and very creamy with a thin-to-medium viscosity and an even, silky smooth glide over the nail that's a pleasure to work with, unexpected for a formula with so much white in it. This particular polish has been sitting for many months, yet displayed no trace of separation or thickening. I am impressed! Self-leveling properties are very good as is pigmentation, delivering evenly opaque coverage in two coats. Cleanup is easy. Sprout dries naturally in very good time to a beautiful glossy finish.

Photos show two coats of Sprout over KBShimmer Love You Strong Time treatment and Pretty Serious All Your Base basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

I'm not sure my skin tone showcases this color very well, my natural ruddiness rather washes it out. If you'd like to see photos where it's looking a bit brighter, take a peek at Lexa's in her review of this collection on her blog, Glitterfingersss, here.

love,

  1. That's a nice polish, light but not sweet. Some of the photos make it look to me like jade with a gray tint to it. Very nice!

    1. You're right, Lara, it's very chic for a pastel. Beautiful luminous creamy color. If it were a tad bit brighter it would be more wearable for me.
