Cupcake Polish Bat-chelor Pad

Bat-chelor Pad was released in September 2015 by Texas-based indie polish maker Cupcake Polish as part of the Modern Vampire collection. A deep blue linear holographic polish, the color is a very dark variation of blue along the lines of resolution blue with a whisper of green to it that gives it kind of a midnight blue vibe. Although dark, it is saturated as opposed to blackened, and rich and bold enough to read as blue even in very low light. Abundant finely-milled holographic pigment creates a delicious, delicately-grained visual texture and dimensionalizes the look with analogous hues of ultramarine, azurey denim and dark sapphire in ambient light. We're completely overcast here today, but from what I've seen of others' photos there's a beautiful, sparkly linear prismatic flare in the sun with bright arcs of azure and spring green.

The consistency of Bat-chelor Pad is fluid, full-bodied and smooth with a thicker viscosity -- too thick for my skills and I added polish thinner at the outset. Thinned, it still retained quite a bit of density, with a plush, self-leveling glide over the nail with some pull to it that went on most easily for me in medium coats from a well-loaded brush. If you prefer thicker rather than thinner formulas, this one will make you happy. Pigmentation is excellent, a one-coater for some. I used two like I always do, to finesse my cuticle and sidewall lines, which never seem to turn out perfectly enough to leave at one. Cleanup is straightforward with a bit of pigment travel but little to no trace staining. Bat-chelor Pad dries naturally in good time to a smooth, shiny finish. Topcoat does not in any way inhibit the holographic properties of this polish.

I always feel like I'm in my element with dark blue polish, especially dark blue holos, and this gorgeous shade is profoundly gratifying to my aesthetic. The color is clean and bold, with a sleek, elegant sensibility on the nail. Love!
