Emily de Molly Deafening Silence

Deafening Silence was released in November 2017 by Australian indie polish maker Emily de Molly as one of nine new polishes for that month. Described as a periwinkle blue holo, the color is indeed a silvery periwinkle, a pale, pastel-ish shade that is simultaneously tender and sleek. Powerfully holographic, there is some sort of prismatic flare visible almost all of the time, with shimmering, holographically-generated hues of lavender, sky blue and cornflower nuancing the base color in ambient light and a gleaming, silvery, semi-metallic Alice blue underlay and flash. The color is transformed in direct light to brilliant azure, with a dazzling linear prismatic display featuring the full retinue of rainbow colors.

Application was dreamy. The consistency of Deafening Silence is fluid, full-bodied and super creamy with a medium viscosity and a silky-smooth, self-leveling slip over the nail, a perfectly lovely formula that is amenable to thin or thicker coats as preference dictates. Pigmentation is excellent for such a light color -- almost a one-coater -- but use two for richest color and maximum holographic impact. Cleanup is easy. Deafening Silence dries naturally in very good time to a smooth, shiny finish. Topcoat does not interfere with the holographic properties in any way.

Photos show two coats of Deafening Silence over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

Beautiful! The color is simply lovely -- airy and ethereal and rendered in particularly silky, sleek perfection by the silvery holographic pigment. It's like having tiny bits of the sky on your fingertips. Wearable all year round, about now it feels like a breath of spring. Nice!

love,
Liz
