Picture Polish Kitty

Kitty was released in December 2017 by Australian boutique polish maker Picture Polish (PP) as one of six new polishes for that release, two "regular" PP lacquers plus four Collaboration shades, of which Kitty is one. Designed by Metka of the Slovenian blog Lacquered Bits, it's described as a blue jelly with holographic flakes and a "green/violet infusion." You can read Metka's post about Kitty here.

Let me just say at the outset: this polish is seriously stunning and my photos definitely do not do justice to its subtleties. The base color is a bold, semi-transparent cerulean blue to which color-shifting shimmers bring a transparent violet-blue sheen and a brilliant azure flash edged by vivid utramarine. The effect is delicious, a lushly vibrant, dimensional melange of blues and blue-greens with hints of purple that just glows on the nail. Sparkling scattered holographic flakes speckle the finish and give the polish a mobile prismatic bloom of gold and green in ambient light, all the more dramatic and sparkly in direct light.

Application was fantastic. The consistency of Kitty is fluid and smooth with a medium viscosity and a fluent, silky, self-leveling slip over the nail, a gorgeous formula that is on par with PP's best. Pigmentation is very good and nets evenly opaque coverage in two medium coats. Cleanup is straightforward. Kitty dries naturally in very good time to a smooth, shiny finish. Topcoat serves to intensify the effects of the color-shifting shimmers.

Photos show two coats of Kitty over KBShimmer Love You Strong Time treatment and KBShimmer Fillin' Groovy basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

I promise you, this is much better in person. I love it so much!

Picture Polish puts out so many beautiful lacquers that I kind of take it for granted that any one of them will be gorgeous and eminently-paintable. So when something like Kitty comes along, with its poignantly lush, jewel-like color, resplendent shimmer effects and sparkling prismatic flush, something that just drops my jaw with the sheer intensity of its beauty, it really feels over the top! A fabulous polish and unique in the PP lineup, this one is truly not to be missed by PP fans and blue polish enthusiasts.

Liz

  1. OMG - yeah, that is just too overused... but sometimes it's the only thing that fits! What a gorgeous polish. And it looks stunning on you. I know I have something 'similar' in my stash somewhere but most likely not as complex and dimensional. I feel myself getting weaker and weaker... I feel a polish buy coming upon me! LOL!

    1. Hi, Lara! I was just thinking about you the other day, wondering how you were and wishing you well. So nice to see you here! This polish, yes, OMG was pretty much my reaction too. It's fabulous! That color just sends me. I don't have anything like it in my considerable stash, so... KEEPERS! If you're looking for a polish that will make your eyes happy, this one will do it!

    3. I am very glad to hear that you're doing better, here's to more of that and the resurgence of your polish mojo as well! Things here seem to be stable in that holding pattern I've been in for the past decade or so. A new heart stint for John -- the first was turned out to be blocked! -- and he's doing much better. Fuzzy is having her knee replaced this spring. Her surgeon told her she'd have to get her fitness level up so she has physical training three times a week and is not at all pleased about that, I can tell you. She'll need any and all extra strength to heal from the surgery, and I'm worried about how it will go. But despite the pain from her knee and not getting around very easily, she's still got her sense of humor and is full of beans. An indefatigable spirit!
