Tiki Torch was released as part of CrowsToes One Mad Crazy Summer collection for summer 2013. Although it appears dark purple in the bottle, it sheers out as a beautiful deep plum color on the nail. A mix of tiny fuchsia and orange hex glitters and holographic microglitters are perfectly suspended and showcased in the jelly base, providing an impression of fiery sparks flying up from lit tiki torches.
Because it is very sheer, Tiki Torch is a good candidate for layering over a base color. I've seen photos of it layered to great effect over reds, purples, burgundies and plums, but for once I decided to play this one out on its own. The formula for this was thicker and a little bit stickier than I expected and I added a few drops of thinner to help myself achieve moderate coats. I did two medium and one thicker coat and got an opacity I was happy with. Tiki Torch dries naturally in a little longer than average time (though this may have been due to my use of medium to thick coats) to a slightly textured shiny finish.
Photos show three coats of Tiki Torch over treatment and basecoat with a thick topcoat of Seche Vite.

This may look like your typical demure plum-colored jelly (NOT!), but I have it on good word that it's actually the magic jam that fairies spread on their morning toast. True! I showed it to Fuzzy who was disconcerted by the combination of purple with orange. Guess who's never been to Mardi Gras? I love the combination, it makes my eyes happy. In the sun Tiki Torch is just ablaze with sparkles in every color from the holo glitters, but in low or lamp light it's mostly the orange sparkles that you see.
I wanted to have a beach party with some lit tiki torches so I could do a proper comparison between this polish and the real thing. But it's too cold outside for a party and we don't have a beach. Damn!
Tiki Torch, Hellhound and Indian Summer all share the same component colors, but look how different they are from each other! Each has its distinct personality. Lauri is a genius. I hope I'm able to do another run on Llarowe's CrowsToes inventory at a future stock up.
Exactly!
love,
Aunt Liz
