Mannequin Hands: Contrary Polish Somebody Loved

Sometimes when a polish is subtle it has a way of slipping into your heart before you know that it's happened. That's the way with the polish I'll be showing you in this post. It's by indie polish maker Contrary Polish and it's called Somebody Loved.

Somebody Loved is a soft light taupey pink creme with lavender undertones and discrete golden shimmer. It is a warm smooth creamy color, not the least bit chalky. Since I am in the habit of wearing showier more colorful polishes, this is a departure for me. I wasn't sure I would like the way Somebody Loved looked with my cool-toned coloring. But it turns out to be a lovely mannequin hands polish for me, with a quiet graceful soft look that I appreciate more each time I look at it.

The color is definitely a few shades darker than my skin tone, but the cool lavender undertone makes it the right fit. It appears grayer in some lighting and pinker in others, but the feel is always cool and elegant. No fuss, just pretty. Yup, I think this polish has me by the heartstrings.

The formula for Somebody Loved is perfection. It glides onto the nail. No streaking, no patching, no pooling, no bubbling. Just delightful polish application with smooth beautifully self-leveling coverage in two easy coats. The golden shimmer disperses evenly with the pigments across the nail and hovers just below the surface, adding a delicate glow and discrete sparkle in direct light. Just lovely!

Photos show two coats of Somebody Loved over treatment/basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

I say LOVE to this polish! Something about this look reminds me of porcelain... the color has a certain delicate translucent quality to it, like tea with milk, but there is a feeling of tensile strength beneath it that is supremely feminine. Somebody Loved has a calm, soothing spirit. I feel like I could wear this forever!

But that would make my posts rather repetitive, eh?

love,
Aunt Liz
