KBShimmer Honeydew List

Honeydew List was released by indie polish maker KBShimmer as part of the Spring 2014 collection. This large collection included eight lovely creme polishes, of which Honeydew List is one. It's a light but not quite pastel pistachio green with a drop of grey in it to gift it a soft slightly muted feel. Still, though, it's bright enough for a cheerful splash of color, especially on an overcast day like we're having here today in North Carolina. Hopefully we'll get some real rain instead of the occasional spit that seems to be happening at the moment. It's been breezy and hot for the past two or three days and the shrubs and young trees we have are drooping with thirst.

Application was pretty good. The consistency of Honeydew List is fluid and smooth with excellent flow over the nail. It's not the best self-leveler but does fairly well for a whitened color, and the polish is very easy to manipulate. Pigmentation is good with completely opaque coverage achievable in two medium coats. I did three for the photos and to disguise my ridges. Cleanup was easy and straightforward. Honeydew List dries naturally in good time to a glossy shine.

Photos show three coats of Honeydew List over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite. Chagrins du jour: a giant bubble in the topcoat on the middle finger of my left hand, a rather messy job of topcoat application generally and the fuzzy quality of some of my photos. Suffice to say that today wasn't my finest hour as a polish blogger.

The photos looked accurate if a bit oversaturated before I uploaded them. Somehow in the process of uploading, the green became supersaturated to the point of looking almost neon. Sorry about that, I have no idea how uploading photos could change the color so much. In person, it's much more subdued with a hint of grey. I had this happen before with another light green, Butter London's Bossy Boots, which uploaded to a color so far from true that I couldn't bear to post them.

I wonder what it is about light greens that throws off the camera. Hmm. Makes me want to get a new one, you know? Anyway, I love this green, it's manages to be creamy, soft, bright and fresh all at the same time. It's also a very flattering green and does not make my fingers look like they've been microwaved.

I got several other creams from KBShimmer's spring and summer collections as well as a few holos, so you'll be seeing more of this wonderful indie polish maker's wares coming up on the blog.

love,
Liz

  1. This is a pretty shade of green! I agree with you, it's soft but bright at the same time.

    1. It's actually even prettier than my photos show. They uploaded to a color much more saturated than the actual polish, which is softer and greyer than what appears in these pics. It's a really lovely green for summer, bright enough to be cheerful with the touch of grey giving it a coolness and sophistication that didn't come through in my pictures. Highly recommended if you like yellow greens!
