Picture Polish Super Styling

Super Styling was released by Australian boutique polish maker Picture Polish as a stand-alone Mesh shade in early fall 2013. Inspired by the awesome blog Fashion Polish, the name comes from the song Superstylin' by Groove Amanda. For a brief period around the same time, Picture Polish designed and sold some groovy leggings in black covered with screened images of their polishes. If you bought a pair, they came with a free bottle of Super Styling! You can see photos of those leggings at Fashion Polish, Nails by Kayla Shevonne, Polish Alcoholic and Rebecca Likes Nails.

As with the other polishes in Picture Polish's Mesh line, Super Styling is a full-coverage microglitter. The color is a very bright medium-toned azure blue, sort of like a medium sapphire or Dodger blue, with a turquoise vibe. It has an azure-tinted suspension base densely packed with teeny tiny ultrafine metallic microglitters in azure and silver. Sparkle city, boys and girls! It's like having a miniature Vegas showgirl sequined to the nines on each nail. Bright blue awash with glittery sparkle -- dazzling is the word for this puppy!

Application was fabulous. The consistency of Super Styling is quite fluid but not runny and extraordinarily smooth for a glitterbomb, with a fluent, self-leveling glide over the nail. The microglitters are exceptionally well-behaved -- no special technique needed to apply -- and lie flat to the nail without stacking, stickups or protrusions over the free edge. Pigmentation is sheer on the first coat but builds quickly to eminently wearable opaque coverage with the second. I added a third for the photos, but would happily wear it at two otherwise. Surprisingly, cleanup is easy and straightforward. One of the great things about PP's Mesh polishes is that despite all of those microglitters, they are almost ridiculously easy to remove when the time comes. No tin foil required! Super Styling dries naturally in very good time to a mostly smooth finish with a slight pebbly texture that disappears completely with a layer of topcoat.

So. much. FUN! Good times, bring a date -- seriously! I think my personal trainer would truly enjoy watching this polish and it would probably be out-of-this-world sparkly under those lights at the gym, but unfortunately for us both today is not a workout day. I will email a photo to her.

Super Styling been discontinued by Picture Polish, but is still available at US polish etailer Color4Nails while inventory lasts. Get your blue glitter on!

love,
Liz

  2. I've had a photo of a mani using this polish Pinned in one of my Pinterest boards for several years. I remember how insanely gorgeous it was - and how much I wanted it. For some reason, that never happened. I love that you are featuring it - it is still one of the most dazzling polishes in that style!

    1. This polish makes me want to reswatch all of the Mesh shades in my collection, especially Dorothy and Orbit. I agree with you, Lara. Super Styling is probably the most dazzling of them all. Such a happy color!
