FUN Lacquer Happy Ending

Happy Ending was released by Singapore-based indie polish maker FUN Lacquer  (Fabulously Unique Nail Lacquer) as part of the New Year 2016 collection last month. Creator Yuin is known for bringing fabulous sparkle into the lives of her customers, and today's polish is a perfect example of how she does just that. Officially described as a "purple holographic polish with micro gold holographic glitter and pink/copper shimmer," this is a medium-toned creamy blue-violet, a gentle dusky shade along the lines of tropical indigo but ever-so-slightly more blue. Spangled with gold holographic microglitters, it also bears a moderate amount of fine holographic pigment as well as abundant pink shimmers, which are not the least bit shy and display a fetching twinkle along the axis of light. The holographic effects are largely subtle and on the scattered side, but the microglitters light up beautifully in the sun with a shower of bright prismatic sparks accompanying the pinpoint scattered sparkle of the holo pigment.

Application was very nice. The consistency of Happy Ending is fluid, light and slightly fluffy with a medium viscosity and a creamy, self-leveling flow over the nail. This is a user friendly polish that is inclined to go on in medium coats and is easy to manipulate with FUN's flattened, flexible brush. Pigmentation is very good with evenly opaque coverage in two coats. Cleanup is easy and straightforward, with a little bit of stickiness on the part of the microglitters. Happy Ending dries naturally in very good time to a smooth, shiny finish.

Photos show two coats of Happy Ending over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

I totally love this color, it has a tender floral quality that reminds me of crocus and iris and all of the lovely blooming things that springtime has to offer. Happy Ending is a perfect spring polish for me, not too light but creamy and soft and full of sweet-tempered sparkle. The coppery pink shimmers are a genius touch and look great with the dusky purpled blue of the base. I wasn't able to capture the sparkle very well, it's slightly more prevalent and dynamic in person. Lakkomlakkom has some absolutely stunning photos of Happy Ending and its stablemates in her review of this collection.

Live Love Polish carries FUN Lacquer now and that is where I purchased my bottle of Happy Ending. It's not an inexpensive indulgence at $16 per, but I'm glad to have the opportunity to try a brand like this that I've admired from afar for some time.

  1. Omg- it's stunning!! I am so happy you said dusky, because that was my first thought when I saw this post. (Color clairvoyance, I'm so convinced it's a thing.) It does have a spring break tropical vibe, an outrageously saturated periwinkle sky just after sunset. It's so full and fathomless, I feel like you could fall forward through its depths and just float forever :] So inspiring!!

    1. Color clairvoyance = great eyes see alike, no? This is such a profoundly satisfying color, I loved wearing it. I never thought about its sunset aspect -- you're right! No wonder I'm so drawn to it! Although from what I've seen it's not one of Yuin's most sparkly creations, which I'm dying to try but just don't know if I can do it at the price, I do think that it's one of her more unique colors.
