ILNP Pink Mimosa

Pink Mimosa was released by Nevada-based boutique polish maker I Love Nail Polish (ILNP) as part of the Summer 2015 collection last June. This polish is part of ILNP's Ultra Metallics line of polishes, specially formulated with ultra-thin metallic flakes. Packed with fine holographic pigment and silvery flakies as well as pink shimmers, the base is tinted a lovely mimi pink, pale and delicate. The combination of the components with this pink gives this polish a magical, princessy feel that is considerably augmented by the tremendous sparkle from the highly reflective silver flakies and  ethereal washes of pale violet and mauve from the holographic pigment. And In direct light there's a gorgeous, extra-sparkly linear prismatic display featuring all of the rainbow colors.

Application was great! The consistency of Pink Mimosa is fluid and smooth with a medium viscosity and an easy, self-leveling glide over the nail. Coverage is provided by the silver flakes, and is opaque in two coats. Cleanup is something you don't want to do a lot of because those flakes stick like limpets and a careful, clean application at the outset is the way to go. Pink Mimosa dries naturally in very good time to a smooth shiny finish with only the slightest discernible texture from the flakies. Topcoat does not appear to interfere with the holographic properties of the polish in any way.

Photos show two coats of Pink Mimosa over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

This polish is the pink sister of ILNP's pale lilac Ultra Metallic Happily Ever After, released earlier last year as part of the Spring 2015 collection.  Like Happily Ever After, Pink Mimosa has the same pebbly dimensional reflectivity of finish, with the silvery flakes piecing together like a miniature mosaic. The dainty pink hue is so very pretty in this look, so clean and fresh, and radiates a silvery pink glow on the nail. Nice!

love,
Liz

  1. Very pretty, sometimes soft, sometimes fierce. LOL, my attention is distracted. There is an owl hoo-hooing outside, in the middle of Houston, Texas! We've been hearing it for several nights now. Last week, it was a Screech Owl. I wonder if the hoo-hoo-er drove off the screecher (haven't heard it this week). Before now, I've only heard Screech Owls outside here.

    1. Lara, it might have been a barred owl. We hear them occasionally here. They have a distinctive call: "who cooks for you, who cooks for you all." Check out this page and see if you can find the call you heard: http://www.learner.org/jnorth/tm/spring/OwlDictionary.html

    2. I did Google sounds / calls of most likely owls and it is a Great Horned Owl. We usually get Screech Owls - first time we've heard the GHO here.

  2. I recently picked up Pink Mimosa and I have been surprised at how thoroughly enchanted I am by it! I wiped out my wishlist with a 25% coupon, but even amidst many new beauties I keep picking up PM and being like "what's this pretty?" It's beautiful and unique in every light- perhaps why I keep accidentally falling in love it over and over again in every different time of day. And now AGAIN, reading your moving description, and seeing your pictures; you wear this color so beautifully. You know how infrequently I am truly moved by pink polish, it being such a common hue, but PM just does it for me ♡

    1. I think it must be that magical, fairy princess sort of quality and the gentle dappled effect of the color surrounding the silvery flakes in this polish that capture your affections. I wasn't expecting to love it either, but it's absolutely stunning! My favorite of ILNP's "Ultra Metallics" are the lighter-colored ones, where the silveriness of the flakes seems so much more integral to the actual base color. The brighter Ultra Metallics of the winter collection really don't do the same thing for me as the paler, more delicate, atmospheric sort of colors like Pink Mimosa and Happily Ever After.

Wiped out your wishlist, eh? Now that's a haul pic I would pay good money to see! Did you get Maiden Lane, perchance? It's a favorite of mine and while very holographic is full of deliciously ambiguous shades that seem like something you would enjoy too. :)
