It's described as a rich navy holographic polish, but you all know how I just have to pee on every navy fire hydrant, so... to me, this is a medium-toned, very bright variation of Atlantic blue with a strong cerulean aspect. It's a glorious color, even more so in its holographic form, where it is shaded and dimensionalized by nuanced oceanic hues of sea cerulean, ultramarine and misty azure. Direct sun generates a gorgeous linear prismatic display with a flame-shaped flare of brilliant azure edged by sparkling sea green and orange sparks that frames a gleaming underlay of pale silvery pine green before shading to a rich Atlantic blue around the edges of the nail. Mmm, so good!
Application was wonderful. The consistency of The Citadel is fluid, smooth and dense with a medium-viscosity and a velvety, self-leveling glide over the nail. Pigmentation is very good, a little sheer on the first coat but ultimately delivering evenly opaque coverage in two. Cleanup is easy and straightforward with a skosh of pigment travel but very little residual staining. The Citadel dries naturally in very good time to a smooth, shiny finish. Topcoat does not in any way inhibit the holographic properties of this polish.
Photos show two coats of The Citadel over KBShimmer Love You Strong Time treatment and Pretty Serious All Your Base basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

Excellent blue holo! It feels fabulous on too, beautiful and elegant, wearable anywhere with anything. I could live in this color all year round!
love,

Wow Wow Wow! Lots of drooling going on here. Flabbergasted at the beauty of the polish. Oh, oh, oh, I NEED! (and yeah, I agree - NOT NAVY! *... every navy fire hydrant* LMAO!)
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid it really isn't Atlantic Blue either. Now that I think of it, it's actually more of a Pacific Blue. I was rather blown away by it myself as I started to apply it -- the color is so perfect I couldn't get my mind out of it enough to consider it properly! Loved wearing this so much, did not want to take it off.
DeleteI wore it out and women were grabbing my hands! "Oooh, look at your polish!" *happy polish enthusiast*
