Application was studied. The consistency of XX is fluid and dense with components, with a medium-to-thick viscosity to which I added a bit of polish thinner to facilitate dispersal. Glitter payoff is very good, averaging a moderate amount of glitters per brushdip. I applied XX over a base of Cirque Memento Mori, a black creme, using the plosh and spread method, also known as dabbing. My glitter placement technique is not as competent as I wish it were, but I was able to get the kind of coverage I was happy with in one coat using about two dips per nail. Cleanup is easy. XX dries naturally in good time to a shiny, textured finish. I used one coat of gel-effect topcoat as a glitter smoother plus a layer of Seche Vite for a glitter-under-glass look.
Photos show one coat of XX over one coat of Memento Mori with a base of UNT Ready for Takeoff, my first experience with a peel-off basecoat. I used two layers of topcoat: Pretty Serious Plump Up the Volume first, followed by Seche Vite.

This is a great looking glitter and the sparkle is fantastic! I wish I'd added a second coat of XX for even more glitters, but I was afraid I'd overdo it (as is my tendency with toppers like this) -- that I'd with too much suspension base on my nails, which would make it look very thick. It would be great to use the sponging technique of glitter application with this one -- you could get as much glitter as you wanted that way and not have to worry about any excess of the suspension base.
As Shibe would say, "Wow! So sparkle!"
love,
Liz
Very nice glitter! I personally don't feel you need another coat on but then I tend to be spare in glitter placement. Hope the UNT worked well.
ReplyDeleteThe UNT Ready for Takeoff worked like a charm, Lara! I was so glad to have all the little details about it that you supplied! I didn't have the whole nail pop-off kind of removal, but it was way, way easier and cleaner and all around more preferable than using a tin-foil-wrapped acetone soak. I was amazed at how effective one thin coat was. I did have some of that Rubber Cement kind of residue so I must not have let it dry enough, but it was still an epiphanic, woo-hoo moment when I peeled up that first nail! Huzzah!
