Superchic Lacquer Wonderwall

Wonderwall was released towards the end of September this year by California-based indie polish maker Superchic Lacquer as part of the Urban Dictionary collection. It's an unusual polish, unique in my collection. Creator Jennifer describes it as a nude and blogger consensus seems to be that it's a champagne. I'm going to call it a platinum blond, a heavily silvered champagne color with vegas gold highlights and a subtle, very pale silvery blue-green tinge. It has a glowing, semi-metallic finish with a luxe creamy/silky aspect that reminds me of creme rinse. Powerful holographic effects wash the base with analogous hues of cream, beige, lemon and yellow gold in ambient light and generate a sparkling linear prismatic display in direct sun.

Application was luscious. The consistency of Wonderwall is fluid, creamy and dense with a medium viscosity and a velvety, self-leveling glide over the nail that has a tiny bit of pull to it. It sets up fairly quickly and doesn't appreciate too much fussing, but still provides a decent window when it's easy to manipulate. Pigmentation is very good, with completely even and opaque coverage in two coats. Cleanup is easy. Wonderwall dries naturally in very good time to a smooth, slightly flat finish that loves a glossy topcoat to look its best. Topcoat does not in any way interfere with the holographic effects.

Photos show two coats of Wonderwall over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

You guys know that I don't do gold well, but this platinum blond polish has the sort of gleaming, dimensional, nacreous quality to its look on the nail that I find irresistible. It is so elegant and beautiful! If you love lighter hues on your nails, here's one that is ornate enough to hold its own with traditional fall/winter colors but will give you the look you crave. As I mentioned above, I have no other polish quite like it. Unique and very special!

xo,
Liz

  1. Your photos / swatches of this polish really show it well, Liz. I remember when I first saw it back when this collection released, I was 'meh' about it. Then I saw it reviewed shortly thereafter and changed my mind about it quickly! It really is unique, and your review of it is marvelous.

    1. Oh thank you, my dear! I went through the exact same process about this shade, passed it over at first but along came a couple of reviews that totally changed my mind and I went back and picked it up. I love how beautiful and elegant it is on the nail, it has a visual heft like heavy silk and a candlelight vibe. I think with your penchant for lighter colors you would enjoy this one, Lara.
