KBShimmer Get To The Poinsettia

Get To The Poinsettia was released on the first of this month by Indiana-based indie polish maker KBShimmer as part of the Winter 2016 collection. It is the cooler of the two reds in the collection, a cross between crimson and cerise -- like something along the lines of Spanish crimson, pinkish but not too. Powerfully holographic, it displays a glowing violet flare in ambient light with a bright semi-metallic underlay of watermelon red. In the sun, there's a gorgeous, sparkling linear prismatic flare predominated by an inner band of mixed indigo and violet and an outer band of brilliant fiery red that shades to rich crimson around the edges of the nail.

Application was awesome! The consistency of Get To The Poinsettia is fluid, light and smooth with a medium viscosity and an even, fluent, self-leveling glide over the nail. Pigmentation is excellent -- it is wearably opaque in just one medium coat, although I'd recommend two for the added oomph to the color and to maximize the holographic effects. Cleanup is straightforward. There's some pigment travel as you'd expect, but only a hint of trace staining. Get To The Poinsettia dries naturally in very good time to a beautiful shiny finish. Topcoat does not affect the holographic properties of the polish in any way that I could tell.

Photos show two coats of Get To the Poinsettia over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

This red really brings the exhuberance, no? I love it! I was thinking, hmm that's a little brighter than what I usually think of as a Christmas red but you know what? No. It's perfect for Christmas. Bright, bold and lively, it just sings!

xo,
Liz
