So today I've got Butter London's Fairy Cake to show you, surprise! Fairy Cake is a champagne-colored full-coverage glitter polish packed with silvery holographic microglitters suspended in a clear base. This is no topper polish, for sure. It's a true microglitter bomb.
Like other similarly constructed polishes, Fairy Cake is fast drying and tends to become sticky and clumpy during application. Closing the bottle and giving it a quick shake to redistribute the base helps to remedy this. I applied two coats of Fairy Cake over Seche Rebuild and Butter London Nail Foundation and could have stopped there and been happy with the opacity but suspected that photos would show visible nail line so I added one more coat. Fairy Cake dries naturally to a sandy-textured matte finish. I added a coat of Seche Vite followed by a coat of Poshe for a glossy, glitter-under-glass look.

As I construct this post after a day of wearing Fairy Cake, I have to tell you that my photos do a pretty paltry job at showing it's holographic brilliance. These pics were taken in early morning sunlight. With the ascent of the sun, the colors in the prismatic spectrum became deeper and more intense. I mean, this polish explodes with color in sunlight. John and I went grocery shopping around noon and I swear it felt like the shortest ride I've ever taken in a vehicle in my life. All I did was waggle my fingers in the sun and nail gaze the whole time. Good thing I wasn't driving.
This polish is a blast to wear. I just love it! Even when the holo colors are not strongly present (which is, like, almost never -- despite what the photos show), the snowglobe effect of the tarnished silvery microglitters under glossy topcoat is magical and mesmerizing. I love the neutral coloring of Fairy Cake, it is like a beautiful twinkling sandy beach, so sweet to the eye. Knowing that I need to remove it and move on to another polish makes me lay my ears back and swish my tail. I don't wanna! And not because I'll have to break out the tin foil to get it off either -- the effort is well worth the pleasure of wearing.
If ever a polish made the case for being a power accessory, for me it is Fairy Cake. It's my "it" polish. Eleanor, you know how much I love my polishes, so you'll know what it means when I say this one is my favorite. I'll wear this the next time I come visit, and I know you'll be able to see in it what I do.
love,
Aunt Liz
