Chirality The Symbiote

Today I have the final scattered holographic polish from my January Chirality mini spree, The Symbiote. The Symbiote is described as a black holo, but it is altogether different that what most black holos endeavor to be, that is, well, black. Rather than the black carrying the holo along for show, this polish is more of a collaboration between the black and holo pigments. As such, it is more complex and mysterious than what I'd typically think of as a black holo.

Being a scattered holo, the particles of holo pigment are relatively large in size, which makes them more apparent. They dilute the black into a deep charcoal infused with sepia, olive and wenge. The Symbiote has an intricate changeable painterly look that is edgy and elegant, and much more multifaceted and versatile than a singularly black or dark grey polish.

In keeping with Amanda's masterful formulary skills, The Symbiote is a dream to apply. Fluid and dense, it lays down in a smooth and completely self-levelling manner. Pigmentation is excellent. Complete opacity and bottle color can be achieved one medium coat. I did two to be consistent with my other Chirality swatches. The Symbiote dries naturally in very good time to a smooth shiny finish. I should mention that the speed with which these scattered holos from Chirality dry is in keeping with a fast dry topcoat, it's that quick. The natural finish on them has a sense of tensile flexibility, almost a bounciness, that I find delicious. I'm weird. They respond beautifully to a glossy topcoat.

Photos show two coats of The Symbiote with a topcoat of Glisten & Glow HK Girl. This topcoat is the bomb, I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Lots of depth and nuance to this murky masterpiece, no? I love the prismatic bloom on this color. The Symbiote rounds out my personal collection of Chirality's scattered holos, but Amanda offers even more colors in her big cartel and etsy shops. She has a brand new collection of them out now called The Ghosts of Chirality, plus her Hologeddon and core line scattered holos.

Previous posts of mine featuring Chirality are: Just Before Dawn, Apollonia, Katydid, Asymptote, Kale, Bloodshot and Cu2+.

Love,
Liz

  1. I love that this isn't straight up black! I really like the green tones it has. It's beautiful! I've never tried polishes from this brand but I'll have to check them out one day.
