Glam Polish Forbode

Forbode was released by Australian indie polish maker Glam Polish as part of the limited edition Wicked Intent collection in early September this year. Along with Hostile and Malice, this is the extent of my Wicked Intent-related purchase. The three I do not have (yet! ha!) are Sinister, a cerulean blue with fuchsia shimmers and on-tone holographic microglitters, Despair, a plummy magenta with pink shimmers and on-tone holographic microglitters and Torment, an indigo purple with blue shimmers and pink holographic microglitters. As you may guess, I'm of a mind to purchase the remaining three, mostly in order to have an unabridged gift-worthy set. However, I cannot assert that you've seen the last of Wicked Intent here.....

So, Forbode! This is a dark red or burgundy with gentle purple undertones generously dosed with finely-milled holographic pigment and bearing abundant golden microflake shimmers, on-tone holographic microglitters. The golden shimmers are a quintessential fall touch, reading in fiery hues of gold, orange and bright red through the burgundy base. In the sun, this polish dazzles with a torrent of holographic sparkle on a purpled burgundy field. There is a strong scattered effect from the holo microglitters as well as a beautiful flame-shaped linear prismatic display in the center. Each nail is like an intense microburst of brilliant holographic goodness!

Application was awesome. The consistency of Forbode is fluid, light and smooth with a beautifully balanced viscosity for painting and a silky, self-leveling slip over the nail. It is a thinner style formula similar to that of Hostile, but smoother, and has most effective self-leveling properties of the three Wicked Intent polishes I've shared with you here. Pigmentation, like the other two, is outstanding, possibly another one-coater and certainly capable of completely even, opaque coverage in two thin coats. Cleanup is easy and straightforward with just a skosh of pigment travel and residual staining that cleans up easily. Forbode dries naturally in very good time to a gritty textured finish that wants a good topcoat to look its best. For this polish, I wanted to try again for the glassiest finish possible, applying a single layer of Seche Vite, which I allowed to dry before applying a thin layer of Crystal Coat by Pretty Serious.

Photos show two coats of Forbode over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite followed by a topcoat of Pretty Serious Crystal Coat. We have clear brilliant blue post-hurricane skies today with bright sun, low humidity and a light breeze, just a beautiful day generally and perfect for photographing a holographic polish like this one, hooray!

Amongst the reviews that I've read, Forebode is the collection favorite of several. I agree that it is stunning, especially given the season, but I gotta say... my heart belongs to Malice

  1. Ahh, this is lovely. I always love a winey-purply burgundy. And I especially love how a scattered holo in this hue looks in shade. To me, it looks literally dusty, like it's covered in magic dust. I've enjoyed your fabulous Glam Polish trio posts, but my very favorite is Hostile! :) <3

    1. See I would have picked Forbode for you over Hostile -- mostly because I am well-acquainted with your love of such colors -- and I would have picked WRONG! As well as I know your love for the wine/burgundy/purple palette, you'd think I'd also know by now that you're not one whose predilections should ever be taken for granted.

It pleases me to hear that you enjoyed these three -- I have too! Tomorrow's polish is quite a bit more subdued... if I can actually post it. Once again cryptic and utterly frustrating network issues have rendered my mac without internet connectivity while the other two macs in the house are unaffected and in perfect working order. I require my mac to create a post, it can't be done on another computer. I may well go stark raving mad. Well, starker and more raving. I have a call in to a guru at Apple. Let's just hope I can still communicate intelligibly by the time he calls back.
