Elevation Polish Muztagh Ata

Like Mount Cangyan, Muztagh Ata was released by indie polish maker Elevation Polish as part of the View From the Top collection in March 2013. Lulu describes this one as a denim blue with low to medium density holographic pigments in two sizes. In some lights, Muztagh Ata leans toward a teal green on me, but mostly I'd say that it's kind of a murky cerulean blue with slate and green undertones. The holo effect is very scattered. In direct light the blue really lights up and you can see a delicate diffuse flair of greenish gold with a sprinkling of rainbow sparks. In indirect light and shade, the holo pigments appear as a delicious silvery speckling of the color. It doesn't have the color nuancing of many scattered holos, but the color is rich and dramatic with a feel on the nail that is similar to Essie Go Overboard.

Application was wonderful. The consistency of Muztagh Ata is fluid, creamy and dense, with a buttery glide over the nail and outstanding self-leveling properties. Pigmentation is excellent, with near opacity in one coat and completely even opaque coverage in two. Cleanup is easy and straightforward. Muztagh Ata dries naturally in good time to a smooth, glossy finish.

Photos show two coats of Muztagh Ata over Seche Rebuild treatment and Pretty Serious All Your Base basecoat with a bubbly topcoat of Seche Vite.

I'd been sighing and pining over this polish ever since it was released almost two years ago and am quite happy to have it finally ensconced in my stash. It's a comfort color for me, a polish that I can bolster my flagging self-esteem with when I'm loathe to face the world. It's an unusual hue with a self-assured beauty that's like the company of a good friend -- you just feel better for being around it.

love,
Liz
