Too Fancy Lacquer I Can't Even

Having featured an indigo purple with Elevation Polish African Violets here yesterday, I thought I'd go one further with indigo and show you an indigo blue today, I Can't Even by Hong Kong-based indie polish maker Too Fancy Lacquer

Described as an indigo blue linear holographic polish, I Can't Even is a beautiful medium-dark blue-violet hue with aspects of denim, cornflower and violet. Aptly named, it's a chameleon shade that kind of defies categorization, and the beautiful nuancing of the base color provided by the ultrafine holographic pigment makes it even more inscrutable with shifting shades of sapphire, violet, dark denim and saturated primary blue. In direct sun there is a glorious holographic flair with an electrifying central blaze of vivid sapphire surrounded by a sparkling ribbon of prismatic hues that shades into deeper indigo blue at the edges of the nail, the whole floating over a gleaming semi-metallic flash of midnight blue. Dim and incandescent lighting emphasize the violet in the base, giving it a deep cornflower look with subtle shadings of denim and purple. The holo effects in this polish are responsive and athletic in all lights.

Application was just wonderful. Again, Charlene's formula is superb. It's so good, it almost steals the show from the color! With a fluid, creamy, eminently-paintable consistency, an effortless silky glide over the nail, and every kind of user-friendly quality you can think of, this polish is a joy to work with. I swear, you could do cut-in work with this polish if you were painting a house with it, it's that easy to manipulate with Too Fancy's flattened flexible brush. And again, pigmentation is also outstanding, with completely opaque coverage available in one coat. I used two for this manicure to hide my ridges and I think two coats showcases the fabulous color best. Cleanup was ok. I did have some pigment travel around the cuticle, in the sidewalls and across the skin but no residual staining. I Can't Even dries naturally in very good time to a smooth shiny finish. Topcoat does not in any way diminish the holographic effects.

Photos show two coats of I Can't Even over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Glisten and Glow HK Girl.

As I've said many times, my favorite holos are those where the holographic effects are operative even in indirect light, shading the base color with a variety of related hues. Besides the great dimensionality they bring to the polish, I just love seeing all of those analogous colors. In this aspect, I Can't Even is just perfect! The blue-violet base is a shoo-in for the effects I love so much. Every time I look at it, I see something different.

This may well be my favorite of all the Too Fancy blue holos that I've tried.

love,
Liz
