Zoya Mimi

Zoya's Mimi was originally released as part of the Sparkle collection for summer 2010. Zoya describes it as a sparkling metallic royal purple, but many nail polish enthusiasts seem to agree that it's a glass fleck polish . It has a dark vivid royal purple base filled with glass flecks that sparkle in lavender, indigo, fuchsia and even gold depending on the light, and give Mimi that tarnished foily speckled finish that Zoya does so well.

Mimi's purple base is rather sheer and slightly more liquid than other Zoya polishes I've experienced. But it doesn't run or pool, retaining enough viscosity to be easily controlled during application. Naturally I swiped my skin aplenty while applying this polish and am happy to report that it cleans up easily and is non-staining. It also self-levels like a dream. Coverage is buildable, with sufficient opacity and color after two coats but three rewards with even richer color and 100% opacity. Mimi dries naturally in good time to a shiny smooth finish. 

Photos show three coats of Mimi over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite plus an additional topcoat of Poshe, which I added after scratching the first topcoat while messing with our new little kitteh's Cat Dancer 101 Interactive Cat Toy. Oh the hazards of pet ownership.

Mimi is such a sumptuous graceful regal purple, warmed and enlivened by those rosy lavender glass flecks. It's the color of the ghost of Christmas past from Dickens, full of celebratory memories and the cheer and promise of still more memories to be made. It's the color of a life lived well and fully, of generosity and knowledge and celebration. It's a color large in heart and spirit.

Mimi was the pet name of my grandmother, Charlotte Gerhad White, who died at age 99 on 28 October 2013, having lived just such a life. I loved her all my life and love her still and I will miss her presence on this earth. 

Eleanor, I'm so glad you got to know your great-grandmother. She was a such a force in this world and I know you will be too.
