Today I'm going to put two mermaidian polishes together for a manicure worthy of any daughter of Poseidon!
The base polish is Sinful Colors Kissy. Kissy has a tinted deep aquamarine jelly base filled with golden glass flecks. When seen under the layers of aquamarine, the glass flecks look all shades of green as well as gold.
Application was unexpectedly easy for a jelly polish. The consistency was very liquid with good flow, not too runny but I still got it everywhere. Photos show two coats of Kissy over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite.

Over Kissy I decided to layer a polish from indie polish maker Digital Nails called Petrichor. Petrichor "is filled with evergreen, emerald and teal hex glitter in multiple sizes, including micro, lots of duochrome mica pigment that shifts from aqua to magenta, and is suspended in a base specially formulated to suspend glitter." It's a fantastic oceanic glitter bomb and I used two coats of it over my Kissy manicure.
Petrichor applied beautifully, yielding plenty of glitter with each brush dip that dispersed easily over the nail without any extra manipulation other than to push a few of the larger glitters back from protruding over free edges. Petrichor dries naturally in good time to a surprisingly smooth and shiny finish, and I added a layer of Seche Vite to help things set and dry.
I barely captured the aqua to magenta duochrome shift in my photos, but it's definitely there and shows up well under incandescent lighting. I think it added dimensionality to the look. See what you think!

There's a look of curling to some of the larger glitters but it's an illusion, all the glitters lay flat against the nail. I kind of like the curled looking pieces, actually. They remind me of bubbles!
So Eleanor, if you were a mermaid, would you wear this combo?
love,
Aunt Liz
