OPI The World Is Not Enough

The World Is Not Enough was released last year as part of OPI's Skyfall collection for Holiday 2012. This shimmer polish is difficult to describe. To my eye, it's a metallic shimmery multitonal taupe color with pewter undertones and strong pale pinkish violet overtones. It has a very sheer medium charcoal brown base that is filled with metalllic taupe shimmer and multi-colored microglitter. Fairy dust's got nothing on this -- I see all kinds of colors in there with pink, blue and silver seeming to be most common.

I've worn this before but I don't remember having any trouble with application. I did this time! Because the base is so sheer, coverage must be built up with multiple coats. I ended up using three. I was unprepared for the sweep of the pro-wide brush and got shimmery swipes EVERYWHERE. Even though it has a nice consistency with gentle flow and sufficient viscosity, I still managed some running along the edges if the brush touched skin. The World Is Not Enough needs a little time to set up between coats and before topcoat, which I ignored and pulled patches. It's also very vulnerable to smudging as I found out.

Suffice to say it wasn't the best polish day I've ever had.

Photos show three coats of The World Is Not Enough over Seche Rebuild treatment and Butter London Nail Foundation basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite. There are a couple of smudges and dents here and there, my apologies.

In spite of all my application problems, I can't say I'm not fond of this look. It's the kind of color that will go will just about anything and it wears like iron. I've had it on for four days now without a chip anywhere and very little tipwear. If I were going on a trip where I wouldn't be able to change my polish, this would be a good pick.

love,
Aunt Liz

  1. Interesting! Petra does look very similar to this! Formula sounds like the complete opposite though, I had no difficulty at all. I wish I still had this to compare. Perhaps Petra is a bit more blackened. Both look like fabulous fall shades, like a glistening pile of raked leaves!

    1. Yes! Red oak leaves! We have them in spades here. I'm going to be on the lookout for Petra. It's so refreshing to have autumnal colors that aren't too heavy.
