CrowsToes Lil Miss Sunshine over OPI A Grape Fit

This is the first of two posts featuring polishes by a new-to-me indie brand called CrowsToes. The polishes are a duo, Lil Miss Sunshine and Lil Miss Cyanide. I found them listed together at my very favorite online nail polish vendor, Llarowe. If you bought the pair, it was $2 less than if you bought each polish separately. I just about popped the "buy now" button off the webpage.

Both polishes have the exactly same color scheme, true medium purple with color shifting elements that show up silver, green, blue or purple depending on the light, but in each the color scheme is manifested differently. In Lil Miss Sunshine, which you'll see pictures of in this post, the color shifting element is micro flakies. In Lil Miss Cyanide, the color shifting element is micro shimmer. Love this paired concept, love the colors, loved the price. Love, love, love!

For Lil Miss Sunshine I picked out a medium purple polish called A Grape Fit by OPI as underwear. I had swatched A Grape Fit one night a ways back so there's no bottle pic (forgot, my bad). The pics of this one on the nail were taken with flash. It is a more milky purple than the purple in Lil Miss Sunshine, but has excellent coverage and overall I thought it worked well as a base.

On top of my Nail Envy basecoat I applied one coat of A Grape Fit, three coats of Lil Miss Sunshine and a topcoat of Orly Sec 'n Dry. The next time I wear this polish, I will skip the underwear and go with three coats of Lil Miss Sunshine by itself (plus the usual base and topcoats, of course).

First, the few photos of A Grape Fit by itself...

OPI A Grape Fit... I quite like this creamy medium purple polish!

Now for Lil Miss Sunshine...

extreme close up whoa... see how the green is showing a little bit?

I love this kind of flecky finish! It reminds me a bit of the finish on Zoya FeiFie from my Three For One post. There's sense about it of old metal that has been handled and tarnished over time. There's also something very beachy about it, to me. Like the wear anything gets when it's subjected to the wind and water and sun by the ocean. When I showed Lil Miss Sunshine to Fuzzy she said it reminded her of her paintings where she incorporated pure aluminum powder into the paint. Did you know that when Fuzzy paints she mixes all of her oil paints from scratch? True! And very cool.

Be on the lookout for Lil Miss Sunshine's partner polish, Lil Miss Cyanide in an upcoming post.

love,
Aunt Liz
