Pretty Serious Haddonfield

It's coming. You can't stop it. Halloween! What are you going to be for Halloween this year, Eleanor? I'm going to be myself, how scary is that!

Today I have a spectacular Halloween nail polish to show you from Aussie indie polish maker, Pretty Serious Cosmetics. I LOVE Pretty Serious polishes so it's no surprise that I picked one of theirs for my one and only Halloween purchase this year. It's called Haddonfield, a fantastic glitter bomb in orange and black.

Haddonfield, Illinois is the fictitious town where the Halloween movie saga takes place. Halloween is a pretty scary movie so I don't think you've seen it... yet! My bottle of Haddonfield came with a special signed artist's card by Leigh Young, who does all of the artwork for Pretty Serious. It's so cute! It depicts a buxom miss holding a carved pumpkin and a really big carving knife in front of 45 Lampkin Lane, which is the address of Michael Myers, the twisted psychotic killer from the Halloween movies.

The polish is a blend of orange microglitters, holographic orange hex glitters and black shred glitters in an orange tinted suspension base. It's wicked sparkly (ha!) and totally perfect for this special time of year.

Application was easy and fun. The black shreds and orange holo glitters are perfectly incorporated with the microglitters in the polish and disperse evenly and smoothly over the nail. I love Pretty Serious' polish brushes, they are a little softer than average and are perfect for laying down glitters like this without sweeping them into little stacks. I got only one shardy protrusion, which I was able to pluck from it's compromising position without making a mess. Opacity wasn't a problem. With two coats, it was mostly opaque with only a very few bare-ish spots. Three coats got me 100% coverage. Haddonfield dries naturally in good time to a shiny slightly textured finish.

Photos show three coats of Pretty Serious Haddonfield over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite for the extra color boost and glitter smoothing it provides. Please forgive the parched and tattered nail surrounds.

Do you love it? Me too! So sparkly, the orange is just perfect and the black shreds remind me of bats on the wing. Wow, fantastic!

Let me know what you're planning for Halloween and make sure your mom takes loads of pictures! Loads, now, not just one!

love,
Aunt Liz
