China Glaze Some Like It Haute

Some Like It Haute was released as part of China Glaze's Eye Candy 3D Glitters collection for winter 2011. It's an awesome charcoal grey true glitter polish. It has a clear base with tiny microglitters in dark grey,  blued gunmetal and black with medium silver holographic hex glitters mixed in. The microglitters are sparkly enough -- add the holo hexes and you've got a sparkleliscious party going on. As you move your hand in light, the holo glitters spark in every color of the rainbow across your nails.

My bottle of this polish had thickened quite a bit so I added a couple of dropperfuls of thinner to it after the first nail. Given how fast Some Like It Haute dries, I anticipate having to do this the next time I use it as well. Once thinned, it applied beautifully, no stacking or clumping of glitters nor any protrusions over the free edge. Glitter density was such that I achieved an opacity I was happy with in two coats.

As you would expect with a polish like this, Some Like It Haute dries naturally to a gritty finish that gobbles topcoat. I used two coats of Seche Vite with a coat of Gelous sandwiched in between and still had a textured, albeit glossy, surface. I'm fine with that, this polish doesn't need a glass like finish to wow me. I'm over the moon with this stuff on my nails!

There's a lot of drama to this polish with its deep coloring and abundant sparkle. On the nail, it has a kind of windswept cliffs on a moonless night feel, exhiliration and raw energy. Mostly, though, it's just plain gorgeous.

    1. Lol! I love this! I had no idea this was such a great sparkle bomb. Much better than that Orly Stone Cold(I think that's the name).

    2. I love it too! There are comparisons out there between Some Like It Haute and Stone Cold -- Stone Cold's glitter is très micro compared to this one.
