Zoya Kelly

Kelly was released by Zoya as part of its Wonderful collection for fall 2010. Zoya describes Kelly as a "rich gray shade with soft purple and blue undertones," and I agree with every word. This is a beautifully composed complex color, a creamy dark grey with tones of navy and violet that make themselves apparent in various lighting situations.

The formula is quintessential Zoya,  liquid and creamy and dense. It is well-pigmented with full opacity and rich deep color reached in two coats. Kelly is forgiving polish that doesn't dry during application and does not ghost around the edges. If you miss a spot, such as the sides of a nail (which I do on a regular basis), you can patch it with a swipe that will incorporate itself into the polish on the nail and not show. It self-leveled well on my furrowed nails with no ridges showing beneath. Kelly dries in good time to a fairly shiny finish that wants a glossy topcoat to look it's best.

Photos show two coats of Kelly over treatment and basecoat with a topcoat of Seche Vite. Apologies for the scuffed topcoat, I had a slapdash grocery store run before I took the pictures.

This is a gorgeous grey, so sophisticated and chic. I'm wearing navy right now and it's pulling blue to my eye, but I'm sure if I were to put a purple sweater on it'd pull violet. It's has a dark color's presence without the heaviness of a near-black.

This color is fierce!

love,
Aunt Liz
